Frequently Asked Questions

You submit stories to the Upcoming queue. They then compete in a "Match" with other stories submitted in its category. The winners of each Match get promoted to the Leaderboard, where they will be visible from the home page.

Scoring is simple. Whenever your story is NOT in a Match, it has a "base score" which is purely the number of votes that story has received by readers of the "Upcoming" pages. As soon as a Match begins, your story is assigned a "Match Score" counter, which starts from 0 again. This is so we can keep track of who wins the match. When the match is over, the total of your Match Score determines if you make it to the Leaderboard or not. If so, your match score is added to your previous Base Score, and that is your total score that will continue to count up if more people vote for your story once it is on the Leaderboard. If you lost the match, your story goes to the Owned list where its score is reset, and it has the opportunity to be revived.

No. Once you've won a match, you are on the Leaderboard, where ordering is chronological. Your score at that point is more or less for bragging rights only. There will be filters users can apply to view the highest-scored stories, in which case your story would appear higher the higher its score.

Yes, but not necessarily currently. We keep track of everything you do – every story you submit, every time you make it on the Leaderboard, and every vote you cast. That information is kept completely confidential, of course, but will be used later when we build out our community rewards systems. So yes, in the future you will be rewarded in a number of ways for how active you are with the site and the community – more on that to come later ;-).

Probably because you aren't registered or logged in. If you are, please contact support. Otherwise, sign up for an account (it's totally free) or if you already have an account, sign in. We require you to be a user of the site to submit stories so we can eliminate spammers from corrupting the community.

Absolutely! As soon as you find an article on any web page you think is relevant to others, just copy the content of the Address bar in your browser, and paste it into the URL field in the first step of Aggregame's submission process. Then just follow the submission process until you are notified the submission was successful =).

No. This is designed to reduce the spam of stories that the users feel are not as relevant as the other stories. We understand that YOU may think it is relevant, but that's not the purpose of Aggregame. You can submit a story once. If it fails to win a Match, and make the Leaderboard, you have the opportunity to revive that story for a second chance. Once it loses again, it's gone and cannot be submitted again. At that point, it probably is old news anyway!

No. Pick the most relevant category you think the story belongs in. You can, however, TAG stories with other contextual cues to help users find your story. So if you think your story best lives in the Xbox 360 category, because that's the lead platform the game is on, but want to tag it with "Playstation 3", "Wii", and "PC" you are more than welcome to. In-fact, you're encouraged to!

No. We've designed technology to scrape the page you submit for relevant images to associate with the article. In the event that we cannot find a suitable icon, you have to select No Picture. We aren't perfect. There may be an icon with the story you submit, and we didn't detect it. If so, send feedback with the link to the article, and we'll fix it for future submissions!

Yes you can. Just login, and click "Preferences" at the top of the page to find all the controls available. Under the Identities section of your Preferences lies the ability to tie any number of e-mail accounts to your Aggregame user account. Note that each address must be verified before you can use it to login or request your password.

No. This would just create confusion and would be impossible to engineer intuitively considering the commenting, forums, and chat functionality of Aggregame. You create one identity upon registration.

Yes you can. You do this from the Preferences page as well. It will show up on your profile, in the forums, and on comments.

We have made this as easy and painless as possible. Go to the Publishing page and copy and paste the Javascript code into your article. It's really that simple. More advanced customization options do exist.

We use our discretion as to which media outlets appear in our Aggregate section. That said, if you think we've overlooked your property and would like to apply, simply contact our Support department and we'll review your site.

Aggregame typically is not the point-of-origin of the content we aggregate. We simply organize content that lives elsewhere on the Internet. We recommend you get in touch with the original author of the content.
